Robin Penaherrera, originally from Washington DC, is the general manager of Flortec Flowers and LatinFlor. He heads the team behind the Flowers for Kids promotion. Together with many of the other growers in Ecuador , he wanted to do something to encourage more American families to discover and enjoy freshly cut flowers.

So what's in it for us, the people running Flowers for Kids?

We hope that by educating people how to look after flowers and keep them beautiful the longest time that demand for cut flowers will increase. If that happens then we are all happy because we grow the flowers!

But its more than that, its for our native workers too. We want to explain how we care for them, how the environment in Ecuador is being conserved with these farms, and also to educate people about the friendly country of Ecuador. After all we have the fabulous Galapagos Islands just a 2-hour flight away, we have the Andes , and the Amazon basin, it's truly a magical place.
